Audio Description

Audio description (also referred to as Video Description) is the secondary audio voice over narration that is scripted, voiced and inserted during natural gaps or pauses between dialogue within a piece of content to explain key visual elements appearing on the screen such as geographical settings, costumes or body language to offer the Blind and Visually impaired a greater understanding of the overall context of the media they are engaging with.

Traditionally Audio Description can be found within Film, TV and DVD products as an additional audio track accessed by utilising audio description equipment in a cinema, Set Top Box or DVD player, although with the recent Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (W.C.A.G 2.0), more and more content owners and publishers are ensuring their On-Line platforms have such accessibility features available to broaden the reach of their content.
